Dichotomic Light

Dichotomic Light is a light installation that explores multiplicity of light experience. The installation is set in a room that can accommodate up to five people at the time. Visitors enter the dark room and once they adopt to darkness a tiny point of light appears on a retroreflective wall. The quality, quantity, direction and focus of light increases gradually from the yellow glow of dawn to the cool white brilliance of midday – from the blue cast of twilight to the spectacular red-orange shift of sunset. At a certain point, light starts to strobe as if there has been malfunction. Unlike natural light that changes in perfect harmony with the movement of the sun, the light here is artificially controlled and subjected to technical difficulties. Entire room turns red and comforting light becomes an experience of affright.
