ART IN MAKING SINCE 2001.
SPECIMENS OF TIME
An archive of a changing world —
not as it looked, but as it felt to be there.
Specimens of Time gives form to the felt presence of vulnerable landscapes as evolving atmospheric sculptures. Environmental observations and data are transformed through light, material and computation. Each work evolves in relation to the landscape it holds, carrying something of its atmosphere as that place continues to change.Specimens of Time: Hoh Rain Forest · 47.86° N · 123.93° W

THE STUDIO
An artist-led studio creating works across art, science, and emerging technology, from collectible light sculptures to permanent site-specific installations.
The practice builds technologies from the ground up while subverting those designed for optimization, control, and extraction, turning both into artistic media that question how technological power shapes our relationship with the natural world.

MAJA PETRIĆ
Artist / Director
Maja Petrić is an internationally exhibiting artist whose practice brings together light, environmental phenomena, computation, and emerging technologies. For more than 20 years, she has developed new forms of sculpture and installation that make fleeting and often imperceptible aspects of the natural world physically present. Her work ranges from intimate atmospheric sculptures to responsive environments and architectural-scale installations, and has received international recognition including the Lumen Prize, Digital Art Award for Innovation, and Richard Kelly Light Art Award. She is Founder and Artistic Director of Maja Petrić Studio and holds a PhD in Digital Arts and Experimental Media from the University of Washington (DXARTS) and a master’s degree from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP).
